WGISS TEST ENVIRONMENT (WTE) Task Team Homepage

The Test Environment offers a framework under which WGISS will work in partnership with selected international science and EO projects to test and develop information systems and services to meet their requirements. Specific Test Facilities will be set up to address the needs of individual projects. By making available Test Facilities for this purpose, WGISS ISS products will be demonstrated and improved to take account of user requirements. Such demonstrations will advertise WGISS's technical capability, lead to an improved take-up of its products and facilitate improved coordination of ISS across the spectrum of EO space operations.

The WGISS Test Environment will encompass the agglomeration of WGISS tools and services held and operated by CEOS WGISS members and associates. These will be made available via an on-line WGISS Menu, which is basically a web site providing an open reference list of WGISS products, systems and services. The WGISS Menu will be linked on-line to the products, systems and services held by the individual organisations.

The first Test Facility has been created in support of the Global Observation of Forest Cover (GOFC) and access to GOFC information systems and services are available through this GOFC Facility.

The WGISS Test Environment and WGISS Menu activities will be managed by a WTE Task Team consisting of the WGISS Vice-Chairs and the Subgroup Chairs together with selected experts.
